WTF is THIS Graffiti BS???

In all of the apartments I have lived in, someone has gone out of their way to come and write some stupid numbers and letters in some stupid math formula on my wall . I can hardly see how this is acceptable or ok in ANY way. And if they don't use the polite writing instrument of white chalk, they will use a pen or pencil and maybe if you are lucky, a felt pen.

Now I KNOW I'm not the only one they do this to because all of my neighbors have it on their walls as well. But WTF??? And right next to my entrance door???? Do you know what the hell paper is???

My guess is that it is some gov't agency that is vandalizing apartments and houses and that this is somehow acceptable???? If you read my blog, and know me, you will understand that this pisses me off in more ways then one.

The best part is that I'm sure these dudes are ninjas because even though they are writing on everyone's walls like every month or two, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM DO IT. They are extremely lucky that they have gotten away unseen. Because I tell you,...... I am a trained Ninja myself and they would surely perish if I were to catch them.

If you know what the dealio is with all this graffiti wall writing, then please share. And if you've taken one of these graffiti ninja's out, please be so kind as to tell me how you did it, as it would please me greatly.

Thank you.

Creepy. My mind leans towards aliens. They're testing your community and the calculations are going to tell them when you all are good to eat.

It's just weird that it happens so often, I'd be unhappy about that too. Gotta secret spy cam?

My money says it's one of those dangerous mathematician street gangs you hear about these days. They attack you with logorithms and fractions and the occasional geometric shape. Very disturbing that they are in your neighborhood. I'd be very careful if I were you.

I think if you go out and flash some of these Geek Gang signs at them they will run away.

Or, do the ultimate challenge to a death duel and spray paint a slash through their secret, occult signal. I'd nail some garlic over the door too though, just in case.

Shit! Reminds me of when I was a student and I'd stay outside talking with my friends and telling them all about the stupid homework I had to do that afternoon and how no, I had no fucking clue how to resolve the problem the teacher had left us and ok I can show you what the problem is, lemme grab a rock from the street and scrape it against the wall as a chalkboard and yeah I see what you mean, that certainly looks like the right answer to the problem and ... oops, here comes the crazy ninja lady with her digital camera and her angry frown... let's haul ass!!!!

    Fned.

It's Max's monsters. Now that Canuck chased them out of the house they are taking it out on the rest of us.

Husbandito thinks it's the census takers but he's not sure. Some folks think it's a gang of thieves marking homes for robbery somehow. If the marks are next to your apt door then it's probably not CFE or Aguakan marking intermediary readings. (At my house the marks are next to the electric and water meters, but that's the only place they could write them since I have a gate and they can't get closer to the house.)

I saw a guy doing it once and I think he said it was city census, but this was almost 5 years ago and I had no Spanish then, so I didn't understand him at the time...and now he's a fuzzy memory.

I have those crazy numbers by my front door also. I've always wondered what it's all about but it seems to be a mystery.

If you find out the REAL reason all these numbers are scribbled on our walls...and why...please let us know!

Hmmm... I've also wondered what those scribblings are all about. One year the Mexican census bureau put a nicely printed sticker on my door letting other census takers know I've already been counted. No strange writing though.

I'd just write the following somewhere near their writing to really screw them up when they come back. hehe.

    (5/y-3) = 1 + (y+7)/(2y-6)

    sin x(2sin x - 1) = 0

    (9/4)^x = x^(9/4)

Canuck - Check your outer walls and fencing. They are doing it to you too!!! They did it when I was on chichen but in a different place.

JJ - Whats a logorithm and can you give an example?

Jonna - That might be a little high-tech don't you think? lol.

Fned - There are probably many out there just like you and your friends!

Rivergirl - Census??? Thats some pretty great sensus taking...gonna come and draw on your wall every month, not ask how many people live in your household or how much rent you pay...lol. So I suppose we are still lost. lol.

Lynda & Susan - Oh I'm so glad not EVERYONE thinks I'm nuts...perhaps the rest of my readers do but thank god it ain't you guys!

I've often wondered who is doing this and what it means. It seems to appear at least once on a month at the same time to all the houses on my block. I have never seen anybody doing it nor have I been able to figure it out. It must have something to do with utilities, don't you think? I'll put my best investigators on it!

Wayne - You might want to put your investigator ninjas on it....they are sly.

You know, I've seen this all over, and it never occurred to me to wonder what it was.

I don't have it on my house, well, because my dogs don't even allow anyone to walk PAST the house, much less come up to the door and scribble a math equation.

    To explain...

It is probably the work of either your local DIF, IMSS or Secretaria de Salud Publica - whoever runs the anti-dengue program.

The numbers are a code for date, presumed number of occupants, number of apartment units in building (if applicable) etc etc

Truth is often more prosaic. eh?

Yep. Here in Mazatlan it is the mosquito patrol. They come pretty much every month and check the fountain, etc.

    Ni modo!

that's la comision. figuring out your meter reading.

or maybe it is DIF showing that they left a dispensa.

or electropura converting gallons to litres?

oh, I see Eddie already figured it out (I wonder if that is the same Eddie in Tampico who has the glass shop with the incredibly rude customers who don't believe the prices on his wares...)

It appears that it is the mosquito people who put stuff in your water tanks. How's that for being "technical"?!

They are lucky I have not caught them. There is something wrong with writing on people's property. I don't care if the gov't thinks it's ok to do this. It simply is wrong to vandalize people's property.

Yuh-huh...I am he (but I am NOT the Walrus).

Actually, I have since revised my opinion of the rude and feckless. The longer I live here, the more I see that economic oppression (ie: poverty) can only be kicked and fought against when you can't do much else. Hence, civility becomes an invitation for the world to kick you in the face even more...
